    The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is the airport of Mumbai (formerly known as Sahar International Airport) is a primary international airport.
    It is spread across 1,450 acres and is located in the Mumbai suburbs of Santa Cruz and Sahar.
    The airport is India’s biggest International and domestic hub bearing IATA code – BOM and ICAO code – VABB.

    It consists of : Terminal 1 (Domestic Terminal) and Terminal 2 (International Terminal) sharing common airside facilities but are separated physically by a landslide.
    Passengers are provided with shuttle services between the two terminals for connecting flights. The modernization and redevelopment of CSMIA is a reflection of India’s rapid growth. The transformation of CSMIA, a brown-field project, has been one-of-its-kind & unique infrastructural project in the world, unlike any other airport development projects. The MIAL joined hands with experts in airport design and operations to achieve the global standards.

    It overtook London Gatwick Airport as the world’s busiest airport with only one operational runway at a time in 2017. It hosts India’s second tallest air traffic control tower with a height of 85 m (279 ft) after Delhi airport (101.9 m). It handled a traffic of 48.83 million passengers in the FY 2018-2019.

    This airport is the second busiest in the country in terms of cargo traffic. The Air Cargo Complex, which is located west of the International passenger Terminal, has been in operation since 1977. MIAL as part of modernization of Cargo terminal did brought significant developments
    in infrastructure, improvements in process and efficiency with an endeavor of benchmarking facilities and services with the global standards.

    The cargo terminal holds market leading position in Indian airports with the highest air cargo handled to the tune of over 0.9 million metric tons per annum. Apron at the terminal is capable of handling five wide-bodied aircraft. The Central Board of Excise and Customs at Mumbai has appointed Air India (AI) and Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) as custodians of cargo at the terminal.

    It has a Centre for Perishable Cargo (CPC) with an area of 1844 m2 for perishable and temperature sensitive international export shipments, strong rooms of 115 m2 for storage of valuable cargo and storage areas for dangerous goods in both import and export warehouses, dedicated Unaccompanied Baggage handling and clearance areas and 9 colored X-ray cargo screening machines for export cargo.

    Blue Dart opened its dedicated cargo facility at Mumbai airport near Terminal 1 on 7 February 2019.
