Certain substances which are capable of posing risk (Damage/Injury) to people, property or environment based their inherent properties/characteristics are classified as Dangerous goods. These include materials that are radioactive, flammable, explosive, corrosive, oxidizing, asphyxiating, bio-hazardous, toxic, pathogenic, or allergenic. They can be transported in different physical conditions such as compressed gases and liquids or hot materials, including all goods containing such materials or chemicals, or may have other characteristics that render them hazardous in specific circumstances.

Accounting for economic, environmental, medical, risk, these goods must be handled carefully while shipping.
