Whitefield, in east Bengaluru, has grown in two aspects. First, it is today known as the ‘Silicon Valley of India’, an area chock-a-block with some of the most popular software firms in the world. In the 1980s, when visionaries zeroed down on Whitefield – a suburb in east Bengaluru – to build the ICD, the area was densely forested, and as such, isolated from the rest of the city.
