Arunachal Pradesh is getting a new Greenfield Airport in Hollongi
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has taken forward the construction work of the Greenfield Airport in the Hollongi region of Arunachal Pradesh. The initiatve has been taken to build the airport in view of air connectivity importance in the Itanagar of Arunachal Pradesh and it will also lead to the growth of economic activity in the region.
The proposed airport is designed for operations of A-320 category of aircraft and future extension of runway by 500m to cater to A-321 type of aircraft. The airport is situated about 15km away from itanagar. It is being built by the AAI over an area of 320 hectares.
The Prime minsiter has laid emphasis on transforming Arunachal Pradesh into a major gateway to South-East Asia by developing modern infrastructure across the state. An airport to connect the capital city is a much-needed aspiration to the local community, which will also accelerate economic activity in the region.
